Advantage+ catalog ads are Meta's automated product ads that pull from your catalog and dynamically show each shopper the most relevant products across Facebook and Instagram.

This is Meta's evolution of what used to be called dynamic product ads. Instead of building an ad per product, you connect a product catalog (fed by your feed) and let Meta's system decide which products to show to which people, whether they are retargeting past visitors or prospecting new audiences.

They matter because the catalog is the engine. Meta matches products to shoppers automatically, but it can only show what is in your catalog, with the images, titles, prices, and availability you supplied. A rich, accurate feed gives the system more and better products to choose from; a thin or stale one limits performance.

In feed terms, Meta has its own required and recommended attributes, which overlap with but are not identical to Google's. Fields like availability, price, image_link, and a valid identifier carry over, but the spec and accepted values differ in places, so a Google feed cannot just be handed to Meta unchanged.
