Condition
Condition is the attribute that states whether a product is 'new', 'refurbished', or 'used', so shoppers and channels know exactly what they are getting.
Condition seems trivial, but channels treat it as a required signal for many categories. 'New' means a brand-new, unused, original item; 'refurbished' means professionally restored to working condition; 'used' covers everything previously owned, including open-box and pre-owned goods.
It matters because it sets buyer expectations and keeps you compliant. Listing a used or refurbished item as 'new' is a policy violation that leads to disapprovals and erodes trust, while correctly labeling refurbished or used stock lets you compete legitimately in those segments.
In the feed it lives in the condition attribute with one of the accepted values. Many stores sell only new goods and can set it to 'new' across the board, but anyone dealing in open-box, refurbished, or secondhand inventory needs it set accurately per product.
MartechFlow can set condition as a default for catalogs that are entirely new, or map it from a source field and apply rules for mixed inventory, so each product carries the correct value before export.
